Wonderful Comeback: Hung Up is only second to Vogue
Sweden is more and more in love with the Queen of Pop. After Expressen last week, today is the turn of of leading national newspaper Aftonbladet to publish its review of Madonna’s new single and give “Hung Up” an awesome 4 Stars out of 5 rating – just like Expressen did.
DISCO – Finally.
Just when the world started to think that she was incapable of delivering anything pop, she returns to the dance floor with disco music.
The kind of disco that made her an icon in the 80’s,
The kind of disco that Kylie Minogue claimed her own.
The kind disco that’s almost instantly indecent and, with just as an indecent aptite, will top all worthy lists.
“Hung Up” is based on ABBA’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)”. The single is as close to ABBA’s song that it almost feels like a cover.
Sweet filterhouse
The difference is that Björn & Benny’s grand discopomada has been replaced by sweet filterhouse, and over the pulsating bassline Madonna sings about complete nonsense
The melody is so magnificent that it places “Hung Up” among Madonna’s three greatest pop singles since 1990. It’s not better than “Vogue“, but it surely is better than “Music“. It might not be a revolution, but we welcome her come back with open arms.
