Worcester, MA – Has it been a year already?
“Has it been a year already? Here’s to the documentary, tour DVD release and the
hopes that Madonna and her many fans will visit Worcester on her next tour! Enjoy taking a look back… we certainly have!!!”
She Holds The Record…
It took a girl from Detroit, Michigan to unseat the boys from Boston, MA as the highest grossing multiple concert event to be held at Worcester’s Centrum Centre now the DCU Center.
Madonna‘s run of 4 sold-out shows (June 27, 28, 30
and July 1st) during her 2004 Re-invention World Tour grossed a total of
$6,439,890.00 compared to the $1,962,055.00 gross that the group Boston took in
during their 9 shows held in Worcester back in August of 1987.
The concerts were Madonna‘s only New England appearances which played 13 U.S. dates and made stops in New York, Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas.
Despite the FleetCenter in Boston, MA being unavailable because of the Democratic National
Convention, concert organizers recognized that Worcester, MA would be the only choice for a New England appearance by Madonna.
During her the Girlie Show Tour, Madonna opted to completely bypass New England and did not play a date in the region. Madonna previously stopped in Worcester in 1990 during the Blond
Ambition Tour.
