A brilliant lyricist…
Here are more entries for our exclusive One Song feature, in which you, the fans, choose their ONE favourite Madonna song of all times and explain the reason why.
• It’s really hard to choose one Madonna track, but one song seems to slip under the radar time and again and that’s You’ll See.
It came out around the time I was experiencing trouble in a relationship and the line “It takes more strength to cry, admit defeat” summed up the whole situation for me. It’s a deeply personal song that really gives Madonna’s voice a chance to shine and it stands as a statement of her artistic and creative power. The song is a reminder that when all the controversy and hype is stripped away, Madonna is a brilliant lyricist and singer. Her image at the time was very vulnerable and genuinly beautiful, perfectly compimenting the song You’ll See is one of the most underated love songs of all time.

• Having been a fan for as many years as I have this is a question I get asked often by my friends. I have never had any problems answering it. The one song that signifies everything Madonna for me personally is Express Yourself. It represents both Madonna at the top of her fame and her popularity and also the zenith of when my mere fandom of the woman became an obsession. Every time I hear the song it lifts me up. Her performance of the song both in the video and on the Blond Ambition Tour was perfection. I love her attitude and her defiance and that song is where it all came together.

• One song: …there’s nothing to it Vogue. I’m Madonna fan for many years, but when I have to pick a favorite it has to be Vogue.
I remember when I first watched Vogue on a MTV special from the tour rehearsal for the Blond Ambition tour early in 1990. I really was blown away by this massive dance beats. Vogue is a homage to dance, fashion and gay culture. I also love the lyrics, especially the rap. There are very beautiful lines in it as: All you need is your own imagination, so use it that’s what it’s for. Go inside, for your finest inspiration, your dreams will open the door.
The summer of 1990 was a very good time for me. I terminate school, began to work and enjoyed the summer and danced to Vogue all the time. Madonna was big in business with the legend Blond Ambition Tour and Dick Tracy in cinemas. And before the year was over she realised The Immaculate Collection – the greatest hits combilation of all time.
Madonna also did very remarkable performances with Vogue. I remember the performance on the 1990 MTV Awards when she was dressed as Marie Antoinette, the stylish performance on the Girlie Show and for me very important the performance on the Re-Invention Tour. Vogue did a very successful run on the charts. It’s Madonna’s biggest selling single so far in USA, sold more than 2 million. This is my favourite Madonna song of all time… so Strike a Pose, Tribers!!
