A message from Jen Atkin
Jen Atkin worked on the Confessions Tour doing hair for the dancers.
They often looked at our site while on the road and Jen thought to include us and our readers in an event to take place at the Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills to try to raise awareness for the Raising Malawi foundation. Here’s her message:
“Dear Friends,
After having the opportunity to see the world this summer, I am feeling a little guilty as I jump back into all of the luxuries and pleasures we enjoy here in L.A.
Night after night during the show, I watched Madonna sing while screens behind her flashed images of orphans in Africa. I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the Raising Malawi cause. Here are a few links, if you’d like to learn more about it.

“Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, suffering from famine, drought, poverty, and diseases like HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. OUT OF A POPULATION OF 12 MILLION, AT LEAST 1 MILLION ARE ORPHANS.”
The problem is very overwhelming, and every little contribution helps. So, I’d like to give you an opportunity to get involved, do something nice for yourself, and for someone else.
Starting this week, if you book an appointment with me on a Monday at the Chris McMillan Salon, a large portion of your payment will be donated to Raising Malawi.
I thought it would be a great opportunity for you to come to the salon, catch up, and put good vibes out into the world. I’m trying to get more stylists to participate so please forward to anyone you think would like to get involved…
You can e-mail or call me with any questions: jiggidtyjen[at]mac.com or 310-780-0359. The salon number is 310-285-0088 and is located at 8977 Burton Way, Beverly Hills, CA 90211.”
Thank You!
