A new Argentina for the West End
As die-hard “Evita” fans certainly remember, the musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice will see a West End revival on June 21 at the Adelphi Theatre in London.
The new version will include the stage debut of “You Must Love Me“, the new song Webber and Rice wrote for the cinematic version of the musical starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, that won the Academy Award for “Best Original Song in a Film” in 1997. The new recording will also be included on the cast recording that will be released this month.
Speaking to MadonnaTribe a month ago for his exclusive interview, Tim Rice commented about chances to see “You Must Love Me” being included in the new staging of the musical:
MT: Will the new edition be influenced by the movie? Is “You Must Love Me” going to be included?
TR: I think “You Must Love Me” would go in. It’s become quite a well-known song and I think it would be nice to put it in. I don’t think it’s been finally decided but I would be surprised if it doesn’t go in.
