Absolutely Fabulous
The Confessions Tour will be my third time to see Madonna live in concert.
However, it will bring me many firsts. This will be the first time that I have
ever been to Miami. Previously I had traveled to Atlanta to see her on both
the Re Invention Tour and the Drowned World Tour. This will also be the first time that a group of my best and closest friends will be going with me. On
the other concert tours friends had planned to go, but due to money issues
and timing, they were unable to make it. This time, my self and 8 of my friends
will be going to Miami and all will be attending the concert, even though
some of us will be going one night, and the rest will be going the second
night. This will also be the first time that I get to see Madonna twice on the
same tour. I had purchased tickets for two nights at the Re-Invention tour, but
my car had just been totaled and I had not yet bought a new car. So I had a
ride to Atlanta with a friend. He lived out of town and was driving in town
to pick me up on his way, but his car broke down, and I ended up missing the
first night of the concert. I heard it was one of the worst shows on the tour,
but I still saw it as $300 down the drain. I am flying to Miami with room
for error so, it WON’T Be happening again.
I am planning to document the event, “Truth or Dare style“, from the month
leading up to the concert, to the day we fly home. I’ve purchased a good
video camera and about 40 hours of film. I don’t plan on filming the actual
concert, I wouldn.t want to waste my time looking into a camera when I can look at
the real thing. However, I do plan on using other fan-cam video footage, or
footage from the HBO broadcast of the concert just as Madonna did in both
Truth or Dare and I’m Going To Tell You A Secret. I expect it will be fun,
as there are at least two other Huge Madonna fans (of the 8 friends) going
with us.
As for my actual concert expectations? ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Nothing Less. It
is Madonna, after all, and she has set the bar high, even for her self. I
was somewhat disappointed by the Re-Invention Tour, I felt it “lacked”
something because of the uninspired stage, the Kabbalah advertisement, the political
agenda, a shoddy set list (even though it was a greatest hits tour) and less
than stellar costuming (except for the first costume, for Vogue). After
seeing the sketches for the Gaultier costumes, fan footage and pictures from
Coachella, and hearing how the .
“Music/Disco Inferno” mix might sound, all
fears and worries about this concert tour flew out the window. I no longer stew
over the fact that “Everybody” is no longer on the tour. Nor do I worry
about what the stage setup will be, because I just know she’s got something
fantastic and new in store for us. I expect this tour will bring Madonna to
the greatness we, as fans, have come to expect from her. I don.t think she
will disappoint.
