AirBridge Cargo transports Madonna’s stage to Japan
AirBridge Cargo, Russia’s most scheduled cargo airline and part of the Volga-Dnepr Group, transported Madonna’s elaborate stage equipment from Moscow to Japan today for the next concert of the singer’s “Confessions Tour”.
“AirBridge was chosen to transport the unique cargo and given only a four days notice to plan the shipment, which involved two of our four Boeing 747F aircraft,” commented Stan Wraight, Vice President Volga-Dnepr Group, in press release issued today.
The shipment weighed a total of 193 tonnes, made up of equipment including the famous mirror ball weighing one tonne, from which Madonna appears in the beginning of the show. After the show the stage equipment was taken to Sheremetyevo Airport where the cargo was loaded onto the two ABC Boeing 747F aircraft which departed to Japan on time for the “Confessions Tour” to continue. The cargo was handled at Sheremetyevo by Aeroport-Moscow.
The Volga-Dnepr Group has previously worked with some of the world’s most well known musical artists, carrying stage equipment for Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Ricky Martin, Jean-Michel Jarr and U-2.
