Back in the saddle
From the Daily Mirror:
Madonna would have been forgiven for being an uneasy rider and, although she initially seemed pensive, she was clearly thrilled at being back in the saddle as she got on a horse again seven months after her horror fall.
The pop queen, 47, put her bay gelding through its paces on a ranch in California’s Simi Valley. And there were little signs of rustiness from her accident, when she tumbled from a polo horse on her birthday last August.
Mum-of-two Madge snapped her collar bone, ribs and hand in the mishap on her Wiltshire estate – and has admitted it was sheer agony.
She said then: “I tried to stand up and my whole skeleton collapsed on me and I fainted. I cried a lot, mostly from pain. When you can’t set bones it’s painful.”
Mind you, this isn’t the first time she’s been back on a horse since then.
Just two months after her accident she rode down a New York street and confessed: “My excitement is tainted with fear.”
This time, however, she looked far more relaxed, and leaned forward to give the animal a grateful pat.
Glad to see she’s clearly got rid of any nagging doubts.
• From the Daily Mail:
Given her famously fearless nature, the only surprise is that it didn’t happen sooner. A few months after being thrown from her horse and needing hospital treatment, Madonna has determinedly got back in the saddle to ride unaided for the first time.
The singer arrived at a ranch in the Simi Valley near her Los Angeles home looking pale and a little fragile after partying until 5am following the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood.
After tentatively getting on the animal, she trotted around the yard for a few moments led by a trainer, pulling on the reins and leaning back in the saddle. She then leant forward and praised the horse.
Gaining confidence, she broke into a canter and later joined three other riders on the open road. ‘She started out looking really, really nervous,’ said an onlooker. ‘But the longer she was on the horse, the more confident she became.’
Since her riding accident last August, Madonna has been on a horse only once but that was a publicity stunt for a U.S. chat show and it is believed the animal was led by a trainer.
• From the Daily Record:
Madonna showed she is still top of the riding crops – even if her single “Sorry” has been knocked off the top spot.
The chart-topping singer has got back in the saddle again following a hernia operation last month in the United States.
Madonna, 47, had broken her collarbone, ribs and hand after falling from a horse at her Wiltshire estate in August. At the time, she feared the accident would derail the launch of her current album Confessions On A Dance Floor.
But the queen of pop says she is “strong again” after her fall.
And she showed it yesterday as she took the reins at a ranch in the Simi Valley, California.
• From Life Style Extra:
Madonna has got back in the saddle just seven months after her horrifying fall from a horse.
The 47-year-old singer – who suffered horrific injuries when she was thrown from a horse on her birthday last August – recently went riding in California.
She put her bay gelding through its paces on a ranch in Simi Valley, near Los Angeles, where a lot of the old Hollywood Western films were filmed.
Onlookers claim the “Hung Up” singer looked supremely confident on the animal and didn’t show any signs of nervousness following her fall.
After her riding comeback, Madonna gave the animal a grateful pat after she had dismounted.
