”Hung Up” selles 500,000 digital songs and ringtones in France
Madonna is enjoying unprecedented success for her disco hit “Hung Up“, as thousands of fans in France have downloaded it – soFeminine.co.uk reports.
Madonna’s record label, Warner Music, decided to give the exclusive internet rights to the song to France Telecom, a decision that Madonna won’t regret.
According to leading French daily newspaper Le Figaro, France Telecom has logged 500,000 sales of the song and ringtones of the hit record in two months. Even if these sales make up only 8% of the revenue for Warner, the operation is still a huge success.
With a sale price of .99 euros for the song and 2 euros for a ringtone, the record labels and artists are laughing all the way to the bank, as 40% of that price will come straight to them.
