I Wanna Hold Your Hand In Rome
The “Confessions Tour” is now ready to hit Italy, and here are a few useful information about the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the venue of Madonna’s tour only Italian stop, where she’ll be performing on Sunday, August 6th.
The Stadium is close to the city centre and very easy to reach with public transport. The easiest way is to get to one of the following three underground stations of the “A” line – and then use either a bus or a tramway to continue your journey to the Stadium.
• M Linea A – Stop: FLAMINIO + tramway
• M Linea A – Stop: LEPANTO + bus
• M Linea A – Stop: OTTAVIANO-SAN PIETRO + bus
Those are three consecutive stops on the Linea A – so don’t panic if for one reason you miss one – use the next one and you’ll be fine.

If you plan to arrive early, traffic should not be a problem. The area will start becoming jammed as soon as the show starting hour approaches, and most of all will become extremely busy right after the show.
Parking spaces can be found all around the stadium if you plan to arrive by car – but take in account some traffic jam on your way back – especially if you plan to leave right after the show ends.
Take in consideration that it only takes 20/30 minutes to arrive in very central areas like Piazza del Popolo or San Pietro from the Stadium by feet. If you have a chance to reach your hotel/the place were you are staying with a walk, that’s probably the quickest way to get away from the area.
It could also be a good idea to leave your car like 200 meters before the Stadium area, as it will be easier to get away from there – and it will only take 5 minutes to get there by feet.
The Stadio Olimpico is completely surrounded by a park filled with other sport equipments – this also means that you will need to walk for about 10 minutes to get to the stadium’s gates – no matter how close you get with transports.
Disabled access is on the Tribuna Tevere side of the Stadium.
The Stadium is surrounded by two concentrical fences. The inner fence grants access to the Stadium itself through “gates” (cancelli) – you’ll find the one you have to use on your ticket.
An outer fencing has been recently built to increase security – especially for football matches. Access to this area is available through “doors” (varchi) – one door serves several gates.
You can also find useful to locate two main meeting points around the stadium – the “sphere” – a giant marble ball fountain right outside the South Stand, and the obelisque – which is currently in restoration so it’s even more evident as it’s surrounded by big scaffolding structures.
They are both pretty easy to locate and can be helpful if you need to set a meeting point with your friends – before or after the show.
