Live on NBC
The Confessions Tour Live in London is now airing on NBC,
The special was introduced by a cool Access Hollywood segment featuring rarely seen footage from Madonna’s Virgin Tour and Blond Ambition concerts.
The Confessions Tour is now live on NBC, beautifully filmed with breathtaking visuals.
Not as raw as Madonna’s other telecasts, but beautiful and you do kind of feel like you’re there.
Anyone near the catwalk is going to freak out, the audience is fairly visible.
The first commercial break follows the opening number (Future Lovers/I Feel Love).
Get Together follows. It’s a dream come true. A complete revelation in home video. So cool and fabulous. It’s a perfectly filmed concert so far.
Having seen the show, they do capture a number of moments that you felt when you were there. The Steven Klein video was well-represented. The editing isn’t as crazy as the doc.
Unfortunately, NBC is having a commercial break after every song so far.
Like A Virgin is now on. Just like being there, and it goes straight in Jump with no interrumption.
This is going to be the best DVD Madonna has ever done.
The entire equestrian segment is presented intact, flawlessly, the answer to a fan’s dream. It is 8:25 and Live To Tell is next up.
…and it starts with the dancers’ confessions Interlude. Then cut to scenes of African children, the ones we saw on the screens during the live show. Which means no cross. And the entire second verse is gone. Sad but true.
They show Madonna stepping off a mirrored object, and then the camera pulls back and you see cross in the background, but it is horrid. Commercial break.
Forbidden Love is now on. They’re doing a lot of cutting, because… well, Madonna’s hair changes every time you look at it.
Madonna looks so hot as the sweat starts to cover her. This is a real concert. They actually haven’t cut one single thing – well, apart the cross…
And now Isaac. Half of the solo intro is cut. The dance routine is fabulous.
Commercial break. Sorry is coming next. Some good crowd shots. They blurred out her “flipping the bird”.
“How many people can walk the walk”. And then straight into Like It Or Not.
The first performance of this tour is more than six month old and it’s amazing how much is right there in this show. Commercial break.
They cut the Sorry Interlude, big surprise… And now I Love New York is great. Nice bleeping over “suck George Bush’s dick”!!! A big close up on her face too! Another commercial break.
Ray of Light is expertly filmed. They do such a good job of bringing the live songs to TV. And Let It Will Be. Hello, cowboy hat.
No Drowned World, no Paradise, straight to Disco Inferno, without “K-U-N-T” intro.
Cloud and Mihran really get some attention. Symbols from the original “Music” video (like the champagne glass) have been added to the performance.
Commercial break now.
You Thrill Me Baby!!! Erotica is on.
La Isla Bonita – better than seeing it live. Commercial break.
And then, there’s no Lucky Star and the concert continues straight to Hung Up.
…with a stunning balloon drop.
Credits roll. Have you confessed?
That was incredible. Beautifully filmed and bringingt back a lot of little moments that had faded away. It’s going to make one amazing DVD.
