”Madonna is still our Queen!”
Thanks to M-Tribe reader Emoke for sharing her experience at the 5th Madonna show at the madison Square garden in New York City.
“Tonight, July 18th was the 5th New York show and lucky me had a chance to see her again. I already attended at the 1st and 2nd shows at June 28th and 29th.
Until 8:40 PM in N.Y. time, standing in a cancellation line, I did not have a ticket, but I wasn’t worrying, she starts always an hour late. I had a limited amount what I could spend, and with a help from a Scottish guy, we both 2 tickets from a scalper. Nobody really wanted to buy anything from them, people/fans were scared from the fake tickets!!!
I knew they weren’t , cause the official security guy was somehow covering for the scalper. I’m sure he got his “share” after the show!!! This is N.Y., baby!!!
They were the cheapest tickets, and I still have no idea where should I be sitting?!?
The Madison Square Garden office still had available tickets for $350 a piece at 8:35 PM.
The Scottish guy was nice and he helped me out, but drunk and talking too much.
I told him to follow me and stop talking, cause I did not want to see the QUEEN from the ceiling. The security people are very up tight and they can be very nasty!!! (The 1st night they wanted to throw me out and one of them said to my ear: I’ll drag you out!!! I missed the first 5 songs!!!).
At 9:00 PM the music started and I made a move, the guy followed me, but I knew he will mess it up!! We got to the area which is very close to where she will sing “Like a Virgin” on top of the saddle which was at the left side at the Garden from the fans view, right side from a stage view.
There were so many empty seats and I just moved there. The guy wasn’t really acting he belongs there and the security picked it up right away!! When they ask for showing the ticket, than it’s over!!! They send him away. I stayed, but I was the next person to show a ticket and I had to move too. I moved a section further and this is when the QUEEN showed up!!

Tonight was the first night to see the opening act up close and full, finally!! I loved it!!
I just stood where ever I could, possibly safe and far away from the security guys!!
That section was a dead section, everybody was sitting and enjoying their beer and don’t care much about the concert, except one girl. I was the only one dancing and having fun.
There was that middle aged man bored to death next to me, sitting, watching his watch pretty often. Why these people are coming to concerts??? Are you running to your funeral or you think you’re going to miss it or something??? THIS IS MADONNA!!!!!!
“Live to tell” was still very emotional for me. Even the third time with the images shown at the back on the screen. All those issues are well known and publicized, but very shocking, breathtaking and not to forget they’re totally true and real. It is very sad!! But the best part , she does care about it!!!
She had a little wardrobe malfunction when she put on her jacket at “Sorry”. She could not zip it up. Half way through the song before she jumps on the back of one of the dancer she manages to zip it up.
The “Sorry” interlude is a very favorite part for me from the show, her giant image on the screen and the look from her face, it is so beautiful!!! Not to mention the statement what she is making with it!!! The beat of the music just makes you feel like you’re physically capable to come out from your skin!!!
“Let it will be” we had our N.Y. Hat Guy!!! She picked up a hat from the audience put it on and danced around with it for a little while and tossed it back to the crowed. The hat looked very similar to the Philly hat. She did not have that act at the 1st or 2nd shows in N.Y.
Singing and dancing 13 songs, she had to have hear break and water for her thirst, like every other nights. She sat a couple of minutes and chat with the audience.
She felt that different kind of energy what the N.Y. crowed had, she loved it.
She also thanked to all those people who helped her through her career and the ones who didn’t!!!! Probably the last ones are more important, cause the rejection will bring out more and more from you!!! I strongly believe that, this is what she really meant!!
She also wanted to make sure we understood, “dreams can come true”!!!!
I have enjoyed “Drowned World” but I guess the bored guy next to me didn’t and left his seat. A couple of minutes later one security guy came to me from the back and asked me to seat down if that’s my seat. I didn’t and he started with the same old song to see my ticket and stepped front of me. He threatened me, he will throw me out, so I just moved out, I did not want no drama. I walked to the other side where I still could enjoy “Paradise”, just sat on the steps. Five more songs left anyway. “Music” Inferno made that whole section to jump up from their seat. Finally , I was at a place where people came to see/hear her, not the damn beer and play the “lazy ass syndrome”!!!
Another wardrobe malfunction happened when she supposed to get her “Dancing Queen” coat at the beginning of “Lucky Star”. The two dancers were holding the sides of it ( I guess it has a certain amount of weight) and she didn’t get in it. So the coat fell a little bit and opened up before it supposed to, it wasn’t in her shoulders. She fixed it and of course did not open it up from the back again!!
At “Hung up” when she is at the front stage, the end of the catwalk with the dancers the gold balloons supposed to come down from both sides at the same time.
The left side (boring crowed side where I was at the 2/3 of the show) the balloons came down properly. The right side that black fabric which was holding them, did not open up and the balloons got released when the other side all of them were already on the floor.
I stepped down, I grabbed on 3 instantly. People were following me and get a hand on a free souvenir!!
I haven’t said anything about the greatest dancers on the earth. Obviously, she picked the best ones, as always. They are Queens and Kings in their field. They work and solo act during the two hours individually are totally amazing. They are phenomenal!!!!!
Overall, she is still the QUEEN, gives a great performance for a lifetime and working her ass of and whoever says anything bad about her, criticize in a negative way, should be ashamed!!! I was also surprised non of the major N.Y. papers had anything about her coming back to the Garden. From my opinion ( a fan since ’85 and living in N.Y. for the last 10 years) if the media can not find anything, bad, negative and shocking than there is no NEWS!!! She does everything right, so she ain’t news no more!!!
You remember that little credit what she was talking about years ago?? She would not get it from the media, but I think she moved over it and she does not care about it no more. She knows she will get it from her fans double and triple, thick and thin, we will stick with her doesn’t matter what!!
And at the end of the day that’s all what it matters, “This is who I’m, you can like it or NOT” !!!
Tonight is another show, a final show and I want to see it soo bad!!!!!
Have no tickets and no money in my pocket!!!
I hope I’m going to have my luck and I do have my dream for sure, to get in!!!!”
Thanks,
Emoke
