Madonna tour hits city… without star
“Madonna’s world tour touched down in Glasgow today, even though she’s not playing the city” – the Evening Times reports.
“As the queen of pop prepared to embark on her UK leg of the show, Glasgow Airport saw a flurry of activity dealing with her precious cargo – her glamourous wardrobe.
Just after completing the US leg in Miami, the staging, equipment, lighting and sound gear was packed up and flown to the UK.
Her stage wardrobe was brought in this morning on the Florida to Glasgow. FlyGlobespan flight, whose staff were responsible for millions of pounds worth of gear which British fans will get their first glimpse of on Sunday.
A total of 20 tons of equipment was among the tour material being brought in over two days – leaving Florida yesterday and arriving in Glasgow today and tomorrow.
It will then be taken by road to Cardiff where Madge will be kicking off her UK dates for the Confessions on a Dance Floor tour on Sunday.
Ben Sergeant, Cargo Manager for Kestrel Aircargo who handle flyglobespan, said: “We were handling a particularly valuable cargo and I am sure her fans will be eager to catch a glimpse of her outfits which have been flown in to Glasgow.”
