“Dear Tribers,
I was so glad to hear about your site even before the great Confessions Tour began on May 21.
My name is Alejandro, I’m a Mexican devoted Madonna fan since I (remember) was 9 years old when the “Like A Virgin” smashing hit was released back in 1984. Since then, Madonna became my most favourite artist in the world; I followed her steps and successful path through the years. I have a tale to tell…
I regret I missed her successful “Blonde Ambition Tour” in 1990, God! Why internet wasn’t available then?!! However, far from disappointing me, it encouraged me to follow every one of her coming live shows in the future to come.
My first meeting with Madonna was in 1993, I attended two shows of “The Girlie Show” when it stopped for three sold out dates in Mexico City. That year we were not only fortunate to welcome Madonna in our country for the very first time, but also we enjoyed the same month (November) Michael Jackson’s Dangerous World Tour which sold out five dates. I remember those nights were amazing to me, I was seated very close to the stage and catwalk I could see Madonna’s neck veins and sweat while singing.
After being charmed by Madonna live shows, I have made everything just to meet her no matter where and when. After eight years “The Girlie Show” toured in Latin America, the next meeting would be the “Drowned World Tour” 2001… Thus, being the internet available I decided to seek for a ticket of one of the 2001 tour dates. I meet Moody by then through his own website dedicated to posting pictures of many Circuit Parties and events related to Gay Pride. I really was impressed of his excellent pictures; I signed his guestbook being added to his emailing list by return. Luckily, he distributed to all the guests a very tentative offer: He had some Madonna tickets for her stop in Washington, D.C. at the former MCI Centre on August 11, 2001. Needless to say how excited I was for being there. I made a round trip from Mexico to D.C. for one weekend just to meet Madonna. She was so innovative and wiser than before, she impressed me when playing the guitar for the first time live “Candy Parfume Girl“, her strong arms, she was so beautiful. The after party was so great at the Nation Club in the hot and humid weather at D.C. Thank you Moody wherever you are.
Just three years after the “Drowned World Tour“, the history would repeat. This time, I planned to meet Madonna at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to spend a great weekend round trip 2. By then, many things had sadly changed in the world… you all know what I mean, but the excitement to be part of the “Reinvention Tour” kept me in the path not to miss it anymore. I should say I had a good time in Vegas after all, that was the first time I went to such an amusing place in the middle of the desert. The idea of meeting Madonna in Las Vegas following the re-invented hits grooves was oh so incredible! I spent such a friendly night after the show with these nice guys I met while getting out of the MGM, they show me some of the unforgettable night life in Las Vegas.
Now focusing on the most recent facts, I’d like to show you off that I’m proud to say that I have attended two dates of the “Confessions Tour“. I did saw myself making it possible, attending the “Confessions Tour” in different dates and places. The first meeting with Madonna took place at the Bell Centre, Montreal… oh yeah! I wished I could get tickets for the second show in Canada. I was afraid in the beginning I could not go to Montreal due I had busy times in my job, but one week before everything happened I just bought a round trip ticket from Mexico to Montreal, I did not think too much how I would manage to lodge or stay there; I just decided to spend some holidays in Quebec and Montreal including the June 22 show with my best friends from Mexico whom I met in Canada too. Needless to say how excited I waited for the “Confessions” because it was definitely conceived from an album that deserves my respect and admiration for the fine work Madonna did. The “Confessions On A Dancefloor” brought great expectations for a coming world tour, of course I could not miss.
My friends and I were so lucky walking near the St. James Hotel where Madonna stayed. There were lots of people wishing to see Madonna leaving the hotel to the rehearsals. We were surprised to see her so close.
When it all began I screamed, the great opening with “Future Lovers” and “I Feel Love” was so powerful, it was just the masterwork Madonna knows well how to do. My heart beats recalling Madonna singing “I Feel Love” that song is performed oh so brilliantly!
The night and the audience then began to warm up the venue; the crowd was so enthusiastic to welcome Madonna in Canada again, so was I. The people that night were so connected to Madonna, she enjoyed performing to us, she smiled, show showed so relaxing and so confident in the audience… we responded to Madonna with so much love and devotion.
“Get Together” performed so nice, “Like A Virgin” brought my memories of 1984 when it all started. Then one of my favourite songs from the COAD, “Jump” sang and performed by Madonna amazingly… I love this song because it reminds me of Disco and Funk with a very powerful energetic House music.
When the interlude for “Live to Tell” started I felt so concerned about humanity, the future of many poor people in the world, it encourages acting now. I shivered when Live to Tell started, it was so powerful and meaningful to see Madonna on the Cross. I love this song because somehow it reminds me the Blonde Ambition, but also it is so deep to me. I cried for the sorrow she manifests for poor children.
When “Forbidden Love” was played I was full of joy dancing, I adore this song!!! I love so much the drums, the electronic shades and its meaning. It is also one of my favourite songs from the COAD album. I hope to hear the finest mixes to “Forbidden Love” by renowned DJ’s. It deserves it.
I’d write more and more, but just want to mention that I loved the Music Inferno arrangement, the new “Erotica” mix, it’s powerful… it has plenty of material to mix.
Last but not least, I was so pleased when the “Lucky Star / Hung Up” was played by the band. It was so delirious!!!
My second meeting with Madonna took place just a few days on July 22 in Miami; because the “Confessions Tour” is worth a second time. She was so brilliant, she looked happy and relaxed.
I was so excited to make this trip to Miami for the very first time, all because the American Airlines Arena would host the last two shows of Confessions Tour in America!! It was Madonna for the last time before the European leg of tour that will start on July 30. It just made me so happy and lucky again.
This time I spend a great weekend in Miami with a cousin who wanted to join me to Madonna. Both of us will remember Madonna in Miami for long time in our lives.
She looked so lovely wearing a cowboy hat at “Let it will be” act during her show on July 22. Oh my God, she’s Madonna performing a little like Music’s video style, so trendy. The show ended so full of collective energy, all songs were played and performed so so brilliantly.
The people in Miami were cheered up, singing, screaming and dancing with Madonna. I confess Montreal and Miami all have been great. There was this Canadian flag in one side hanging from the AA Arena roof that brought me into a sort of liaison in Space and Time in which Madonna was the Star.”
Sincerely,
Alejandro
