MTV names 25 influential pop stars
A survey marking the 25th anniversary of the global musical channel MTV has selected Bono the most influential pop star in the past quarter century.
A collage of the top 15 musicians, which includes Michael Jackson at No. 2 and Madonna at No. 3, has been hung on the balcony of Britain’s Buckingham Palace, the BBC reported Monday.
The other 22 musicians as ranked by more than 4,000 survey participants are Kurt Cobain, Prince, Eminem, Kylie Minogue, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, Beyonce Knowles, Robbie Williams, Pete Doherty, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.
MTV celebrates its 25th anniversary on Tuesday (August 1st). The video music channel currently reaches 1.3 billion people in 179 countries.
