Philadelphia review and pictures by Gollery
Thanks to M-Tribe contributor Gollery for this great review and his amazing pictures from Madonna’s first “Confessions” concert in Philadelphia. Gollery is one of those fans who chose to remain completely “spoiler free” before his turn came to attend the show – so here’s the point of view of somebody who knew nothing about “Confessions” before the lights went down.
“Hello Fellow Tribers!
It’s the morning after. I can barely talk due to the amount of yelling,
whooping and singing-along we all did last night! This is the fourth tour I
have been fortunate enough to see (Blond Ambition, Drowned World and Re-Invention Tour previously) and as always, Madonna managed to surprise (I NEVER thought I would get to hear her do
“Lucky Star” live), dazzle and excite (what a production, and she just keeps
getting better vocally) and generally – as she wants to do – transport us to
some other place during the show!
I’m not going to do a “play-by-play” here. Just some general feelings and
thoughts.
A great set-list and some great “re-arrangements” by Mr. Price.
I do have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised that some of the greatest crowd
responses were during some of the COADF songs – “Get Together”, “Jump” and
particularly “Sorry”.
Another surprise for me was that unlike the first Philly show of the RIT –
the “Event Staff” at Wachovia Center were not such (for lack of a better
term) Nazis about picture-taking for last night’s show.
I recall vividly during the Philly RIT show, the Event Staff were telling people to even put
down their camera phones!! (But I DID get some GREAT shots from that tour
too).
But last night I (and just about everyone else) were able to take pictures at-will. I’ve included just a FEW of the great shots I was able to get last night.
As always, when the tour was announced, I went on a complete “Madonna-news/reviews blackout” so I could see the show “fresh”, with no
idea of what the setlist was or what she would be doing. I’m glad I did!
Hearing “Like a Virgin”, “La Isla Bonita” as well as all the others was great.
Before any concert I go to – I always have in my mind one song that I would like to hear. I always tell myself and my friends “If I hear this one song, and the power goes out – or if I get thrown out for taking pictures, I’ll be happy!”
For this tour, I wanted to hear “Future Lovers“.
I was floored she opened with it.
Madonna continues to set and raise the bar on what a concert should be.
I’ve been a fan since the first album and I think I will always be a fan.
It was worth every penny of the $350. As usual – I met some great people
sitting around me and the camaraderie we had just added to the overall
enjoyment of the show.
Thank you MadonnaTribe.com – what an AMAZING site. I appreciate all of your
hard work!
Lastly – thank you Madonna!!!”
