Read the book which inspired Madonna
Following the Confessions Tour, Madonna’s next big projects include a trip to Africa and a film about the plight of orphans created by the AIDS crisis. Madonna revealed in an interview with Time Magazine that she was inspired to act after reading a book called The End of Poverty by Jeffrey D. Sachs. An extensive extract of the book was published in Time Magazine in 2005, and is available at the UN Millenium Project website, here.
You can still read an extract of the Time interview here. A Confessions Tour clip which addresses the situation in Africa is also available at the Raising Malawi website here under “multimedia”: those who wish to remain spoiler free can still check out the rest of the site where you can read Madonna’s letter about the project and find out how to donate or volunteer.
