”Shee-kaa-gooow, Illinoissssss”
Tribers are back from Madonna’s first night in Chicago – here is a few of the reports they posted in our Tour Forum. If you want to add your review or send in your pictures from the show, please do so by sending us an email. Thank you!
• Just got back from the concert – thanks to the folks who suggested to make a run for it and grab a cab outside as soon as “” ends. I wouldn’t want to be stuck around United Center fighting the crowds. I managed to snag last minute tickets for todays show.
So the concert was amazing! No technical glitches that I can think of – it all went seamlessly. Madonna mentioned a couple of times, “you know I’m from the Midwest, right?” which drove the crowd wild. She also pronounced “Chicago” as “Shee-kaa-gooow, Illinoissssss” which everyone loved.
She complained a couple of times about the first two rows sitting down – she seemed pretty pissed off with them and said “they must be the rich people!” and everyone booed at them. She harrassed them enough to make them stand up… it was hilarious.
Everyone else, however, was on their feet the entire concert – noone I could see from my vantage point (100 level) was sitting down.
She started very late – the tickets said 7.30 pm and I think the lights went down around 8.50 pm but no one seemed to mind and there were waves forming for a good half hour before the show started.
She seemed to be enjoying herself, but also seemed slightly nervous when she first spoke before “Like A Virgin“. I’m guessing it’s because she expects a lot out of the Midwest crowd.
My favorite performance has to be “Let It Will Be“. The “Sorry Interlude” is pretty crazy too. My favorite moment, however, was when the disco ball opened in “Future Lovers” and she had this huge smile on her face – through all that S&M, she seemed most endearing.
Can’t wait to see it again Sunday.

• Opening night in Chicago was a blast! First, I was able to upgrade my seat from sec 302 row 7 to sec 3 row 17!!! Being on the floor was such a rush inside the catwalk area! There is an energy that only Madonna can cause!
The highlight for me was “Ray of Light“, she rocked like no other and had everyone in my section bouncing for the entire song. Vocally she was on point and she brought it full strength for the full 2 hours. The only song I could tell was lip-synced was “Sorry“.
I’m always amazed by how incredible she looks. Her hair was fabulous and her body is an incredible piece of work. She’s just a marvel to watch!
The only low point for me was “Lucky Star“, she just didn’t seem to be into that song at all and it translated into the performance.
Of the dancers, Cloud just blows me away. It’s like he grew up with Tarzan in the jungle, he moves so fast and fluid through the monkey bars during Jump, and he can twist and flip his body in so many different ways it’s incredible.
Madonna took some time out before “Drowned World” to talk about how some “good things have come out of the mid-west” and did a short monologue about the area. She didn’t mention if her father was in the house, but many of us were wondering.
Overall, it’s a great show but it’s different from previous outings in that it really is less theatrical and more focused on Madonna herself. She showcases her talent as a singer, a musician and a dancer moreso than she did on the last tour (in my opinion.
During the RIT, she demonstrated strong vocals on Lament and Mother and Father, and for this show I just felt like we were getting more of that strength throughout.
I can’t believe I get to see the show again tomorrow night and I can’t wait!

• Opening night in Chicago tonight – we were in Sec 5, Row 2 it was amazing”
One Texan, one Floridian, and one New Yorker – former Texan in our group have been complaining nonstop that everywhere we go in Chicago its cold lol but by the end of the concert it was boiling hot in United Center.
End of the catwalk seats were amazing and looking forward to repeating these again in NYC.

• I just returned and I wanted to let everyone know a few things:
We were in section 6, row 5, seats 11&12 and were on the end away from the catwalk. So seats on the right start as 1 near the catwalk-to put an end to everyone wondering what was up with the seating on the floor.
Although it was listed as 7:30, she didn’t start until about 8:45.
It was in the 60’s tonight, but it was beyond hot in there – I had on a tank and was still sweating. So wear as little as possible ’cause you will sweat your butt off.
If you are on the flooor, wear comfy shoes ’cause you will not sit down once-we all stood and danced the whole time.
There was security everywhere so getting up to the catwalk was not happening-they kept shooing everyone away from what we saw.
Just about everyone in my section was using their camera phone and digital cameras but were smart about it-no one was constantly clicking away but honestly, the show was so captivating, I didn’t want to be distracted taking pics and everyone around me seemed to be the same way.
Madonna has the most perfect flawless skin I have ever seen. And to say that she is in good shape in an understatement-it’s one thing in pics but when you see her close… she is remarkable. My friend just kept saying “Oh my god-her butt! Look at her butt!” Her hair looked really good when it was down-very soft and flowing.
If anyone can tell me how the heck she got into that disco ball, please do. I actually watched it the whole time and didn’t see her get in or see it move before it came down.
That’s all I can think of for now…I am still floating!
