The person you have been dancing to since you can remember
Thanks to M-Tribe reader Charlotte from Luton, UK for her report from last night’s Madonna opening night concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
“I am still getting over the shock of seeing my idol last night!!! I live near London but couldn’t pay £150 for wembley seats at the back so decided to go with my Dad and his mate for only £80. I was determined and lucky enough to get into the golden circle with much aggro of being belted about by middle aged men (being a 17 year old girl). Donning my “Dancing Queen” Madonna tee over my tank top and skirt, I was never more than 6m away from Madonna and there was more than enough room to get your groove on which I took total advantage of.
I had already checked out the set list and had seen photos which spoiled parts for me but nevertheless I vow it’s the best and will remain a priceless show for me.
When Madonna arrived on stage I literally had tears in my eyes because I thought “you are about to see the person you have been dancing to since you can remember“. She stunningly appeared…the rest for me is history.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so close to an artist like I was last night! At “La Isla Bonita” – one of my favourite songs ever I clocked the fact that Madonna would be coming along the catwalk so I held tight to the barrier at the end of the catwalk and watched the screens, awaiting her arrival.
Well, then she just appeared singing the chorus, laughing. I was singing my heart out but laughing too because I simply could not believe it, I was overwhelmed. It was me, the barrier, Madonna. Then she held out the mic in my direction (not too near because she would have fallen over the catwalk) and I was in awe. I wish I could have that moment forever on a photo but it’s a memory I know I’ll never ever ever forget. Seeing her glittering eye shadow sparkling down.
Studio 54 was the best, with “Music Inferno” and wow, it was just fantabulous!!
In the end I think all the choices of songs were terrific but I never really knew “Erotica” and loved her 80s stuff MORE than anything. I wish “Vogue” had have been in there maybe at the end for an encore to finish it all off as a medley with perhaps “Holiday”. “Live To Tell” is a song I skip when I listen to the “Immaculate Collection” but last night I wondered why all these years I had NEVER listened to it properly.
I was a bit upset there wasn’t an encore, but I guess that just means that I’ll have to go again next time doesn’t it? If it means paying £80 for what I saw last night I can more than gladly say it’s TOTALLY worth it!!!! At least she knows I exist now…”
