Update on Raising Malawi
An update on plans to build a sustainable village in Malawi through the Raising Malawi programme.
Andrina Mchiela, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Child Welfare and Community Services in Malawi has described the planned visit by Madonna to the country next month as “a blessing for our orphans because Madonna has a passion for them. I am sure a lot of orphans and other vulnerable children are going to benefit from her visit,”
A letter from project director Philippe van den Bossche to the ministry states that “Eight Malawian teachers have been hired and were brought to the Spirituality for Kids (SFK) headquarters in Los Angeles for a comprehensive educational training programme. They have completed a 12-week course in SKF curriculum”. Some basic materials such as blankets and nets have already been sent to the country through the programme, and support has been given to grassroots organisations in Malawi.
Plans for the site can be found here.
