An Italian clipping about Live Earth
It is no secret that the Live Earth events have been targeted and labeled as environmentally unethical by part of the press that has been clearly too busy to check sources and get first hand information – something that would have made find out, for instance, that the eight concerts have been designed to be carbon neutral. No matter if the peculiar attention to the environment was also pretty visible, with an extremely reduced use of video screens and a level of lighting on stage that caused troubles to the photographers for being substantially less strong than the average level you would find in a live show.
And as predictable, Madonna was one of the most criticized artists because of her supposed carbon footprint.
Well, from what you read today in the press, the Queen of Pop has certainly learnt something from Live Earth, while it is not sure if some bitter journalist did the same.
Her spokesperson is quoted as saying:
“Madonna’s agreement to sing at the Live Earth event is merely one of the first steps in her commitment to being environmentally responsible. She is educating herself and her family and has begun to make changes around her that reflect her awareness and concern for the future of the planet.”
