Creepy in Venice
Our friend Marco had the chance to sit down for a chat with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who has a new album out and as a Madonna fan he couldn’t avoid to compare her new video, shot in Venice, to Madonna’s Like
A Virgin.
Marco: The video for Catch You, the new single off Trip The Lights
Fantastic is shot in Venice. I think it’s an interesting choice. Since Madonna’s Like A Virgin
no one else dared to make a video there, maybe fearing a comparison. Why did you choose Italy?
Sophie: I love Italy, it’s my favourite country, I got married in Tuscany and Venice is magic and unique city. To tell the truth
the idea of the video came to me by watching the film Don’t Look Now, a thriller from the 70’s with
Julie Christie e Donald Sutherland, when I told my record label they said: “Why do you want to make
a video in
Venice based on a scary movie that nobody remembers? So I played my cards right and told them Madonna also made
a video in Venice so I got their OK. We made a very creepy video, just like I wanted it to be. Of course when I found myself in
the “Gondola boat” I started singing “I made it trough the
wilderness
” and I wished I had a lion!
Thanks to Marco for this tidbit and exclusive preview
