I was beat, incomplete, I was sad and… white!

Canada is not really known for it’s production of limited edition or special edition collectables when it comes to Madonna records. However, Sire Canada really went to town when it came to promoting Madonna’s second big music project.

In an attempt to catch the eyes of DJs and Promoters, the ‘Like A Virgin‘ LP and promotional issues of both a 7″ and 12″ single of the title track were pressed up on ‘virginal’ white vinyl. The US also pressed up a batch of white LPs for similar promotion, but the white Canadian singles marked not only the debut coloured vinyl Madonna releases from their own country, but also the first official Madonna coloured vinyl from any country in the world!

The single went on to top the Canadian chart, so the promotion clearly paid off in that respect, but the album stalled at No.3.

All three releases are extremely hard to find these days and their value has absolutely rocketed since 1984 when they were shiny and new’!
