Impact! Songs that Changed the World – Like a Virgin
Amazon.com have updated their listing about what the new DVD called “Madonna : Like Virgin” to be released on September 25, 2007.
The new release is now listed as “Impact! Songs that Changed the World – Like a Virgin – Madonna, Nile Rodgers, Betsey Johnson, Mark Bego, Billy Steinberg (1984)” – which suggests that this is not the supposed DVD release of the four videos previoulsy released on tape and laserdisc but yet another unofficial release about Madonna’s “virgin” years.
“Madonna : Like Virgin” actually is a documentary, from about two years ago – our Community member buddyex adds – part of a series about popular songs that changed the world, and focuses on the impact that Like A Virgin had, not only focusing on how it launched Madonna to international stardom but also about sexuality in music videos.
The version aired on tv was not endorsed by Warner so it fif not feature anything but public domain footage of Madonna and did not include the actual song, but featured lots of music industry and psychology professionals as well as former associates of Madonna’s and author Billy Steinberg discussing his composition.
AOL still have their different listing up with an explicit mention of “the four videos that set Madonna on the road to stardom – “Burning Up,” “Borderline,” “Lucky Star,” and “Like a Virgin.” – although it may just be a matter of time before they amend their data.
