In Bed With Chiara
The Confessions Tour will be finally broadcasted on Italian television on April 2nd 2007 by Music Box.
The land of Madonna’s ancestors may be last in the list of countries to show the tv version of Confessions Tour but tv channel Music Box have prepared and produced an original pre-concert tv special with tidbits and curiosities about Madonna’s career and the tour and exclusive interviews to people who have worked with the Queen
of Pop in the past.
The host of the special, titled “In Bed With Chiara“, is our friend Chiara Iezzi, the talented singer and songwriter who lately topped
the Italian charts with the lovely Madonna inspired song “Nothing At All”. Chiara will be hosting the show from a hotel room and introduce interviews the music channel had with Luca Tommassini, Oliviero Toscani and Steve Nestar, the Confessions Tour dancer.
MadonnaTribe had the chance to ask Chiara a few things about this coming tv special and her own projects.
MadonnaTribe: Chiara, this coming April you will be hosting the tv special “In Bed With Chiara” on Italian Music channel “Music Box”.
where you will be discussing Madonna facts and tidbits. How did this idea come up?
Chiara: Some of the people of Music Box attended my Raising Malawi performance in Rome in December. I think everything started from the fact that my project is so openly inspired by
Madonna’s world. Obviously it’s a great honour for me, even if hosting a tv show is not exaclty my job.
I hope fans will like it because I had a great time doing it and there was a special feeling with the crew.
MadonnaTribe: This tv specials shows exclusive interviews to Luca Tommassini, Steve
Nestar and Oliviero Toscani. Did you work on the interviews yourself?
Chiara: No, I didn’t do the interviews myself, I’m there to introduce the various bits and contents
from my Deco’ style hotel room, which was an idea of the Music Box producers. The interviews were
already done when I stepped in the project.
MadonnaTribe: Steve Nestar, in particular, is one of the tour dancers, did you like him on stage?
Chiara: I really like the show in general. Energy is tangible, I imagine that Madonna pushes her people to give out their best on stage and this is why each of her shows is unique and has great style.
MadonnaTribe: Chiara, you’re a great singer and multitalented artist, and now you’re experiencing as a tv presenter. There aren’t many artists like you in Italian show biz. Did you like this experience and will you be pursuing it further?
Chiara: Thanks for the kind words, it’s very nice of you. I’m experimenting with various things to win over my fears and shyness. It’s philosophy that helps me feeling comfortable even when I’m doing things that bring me out of my own “comfort zone”. As I said I had a lot of fun and I’ve met nice and professional people. I’m very demanding with myself on my work and in everything I choose to do.
I even brought along my copy of the Zohar, the jewish book of Splendor and Protection, for a couple of takes in which we were discussing Madonna & Kabbalah. I like the fact this exclusive is broadcasted by satellite tv, my entire project started as an “indie” project. I like to reaffirm this choice. But in my life I am and will always be a pop songwriter along with my sister and I find the greatest lust in writing, creating and then transmitting to the outside my emotions.
MadonnaTribe: Your single “Nothing At All“, as many people remember, has raised funds for Raising Malawi,
the humanitarian association that Madonna put together to help Africa. How did the fund raising go?
Chiara: The song has been in the charts for two months and I’m very happy with that.
At the moment I did three donations straight to the Raising Malawi website. Being more specific,
you get your earnings from music sales a lot of months after the release, so when I will have the figures
I will make them public and post them on my websites and with the new album by Paola&Chiara we will
keep supporting orphans. We are very active.
I would like to use this space to announce that the first single from our new album will be called
Second Life, and it carries a special message also on social level.
Today unhappiness is spread everywhere and everyone in the world would like to have a
second chance, a new world where you can feel safe and happy. This is why it’s becoming
more and more important to be tollerant and kind to others.
MadonnaTribe: Do you have a message to close this brief chat?
Chiara: Yes, Long Live The Queen!! I love you all!
