Madonna in the Top Music Stories of 2007
Sun Media’s Jane Stevenson compiled a list of the Top Music Stories of 2007 – describing the year that’s coming to its end as 2007 will go down as one schizophrenic year on the music scene.
“Downloading was way up, album sales were way down, and every reunion you could possibly imagine – with the exception of the surviving Beatles – hit the stage.”
Among Jane’s top 10 music stories of 2007, listed in no particular order, comes Madonna and her new Live Nation deal:
The Day That Music Died?
“On October 10, Brit art-rockers Radiohead self-released their latest album, In Rainbows, only as a digital download, with consumers asked to pay what they could. On the same day, Madonna acknowledged she’d signed a rumoured $120-million, 10-year deal with tour promoter Live Nation that will include albums, touring, merchandising and licensing. It’s not the end of music labels, but the times, they are a-changing.”
