Madonna the cinephile
M-Tribe contributor Laurent sent in an interesting H&M related news he came across in a short article in the movie section of French weekly magazine Télérama.
In a nutshell, the article, titled “b>Madonna dress up as a cinephile“, explains how the H&M commercial Madonna directed not only refers to recent movies such as The Devil Wears Prada, but is also inspired to a great movie from the 50’s, “Funny Face“, while the collection itself is reminiscent of film noir.
“Funny Face” is a 1957 movie directed by Stanley Donen and starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire.
The online website for Télérama features a great clip from the movie from which you can clearly see how it inspired the H&M commercial. The article is wrapped up by saying that Madonna has understood her
unrequited love for cinema has to be turn into something, anything.
Special thanks to Laurent for this interesting report.
