Madonna’s model boy
Madonna Fact Of The Day – February 26 -Madonna’s model boy
In 1985 the dream team of Madonna and Stephen Bray wrote a song called ‘Each Time You Break My Heart‘ but for reasons unknown got no further with it than producing her own demo which has yet to ever leak in full, although it has been in the hands of certain collectors for years.
What happened to this excellent little song was English model Nick Kamen, famous for his stripping in a launderette Levis ad, recorded it as his debut single, with very obvious backing vocals by Madonna and co-produced by her as well.
The single was a huge smash hit and launched Nick onto a pretty successful solo career. The fact that Madonna was actually pictured, in a hugely flattering “I’m knackered” pose on the rear of the sleeve may have helped the sales somewhat
The Madonna link didn’t just end there – after the success of Each Time You Break My Heart, Madonna and Nick teamed up again for a single from his Pat Leonard-produced second album ‘Us‘ called ‘Tell Me‘ but this time Madonna’s contribution was limited to (very loud and obvious) backing vocals.
Nick has recorded six full length albums and had a brief resurgence of popularity at the start of the 1990s with the excellent single ‘I Promised Myself‘.
