Molly, it’s Madonna on the line!
Lynne Randell, the 1960s teen pop princess, did not want her family and friends to fuss after her death but what she got was a showbiz farewell on Saturday.
Lynne’s time with music guru Molly Meldrum, who leaned on Lynne as his assistant in the 1980s, was never boring and such were the challenges that she became his “nagging wife”.
One of the highlights goes back to the time Lynne answered the phone and it was Madonna.
“Yeah, right,” Lynne snapped.
“Who is this?” “Madonna,” the material girl insisted.
hen Lynne yelped: “Ian, it’s f—–g Madonna on the phone!”
Later, when the women met, Madonna recognised Lynne’s voice, yelping: “You’re the one who said ‘It’s f—–g Madonna!’ ”
