More Gogol on Madonna
MadonnaTribe friend and contributor Marco completed an exclusive interview with Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello last month and asked him about working with Madonna on her “Filth & Wisdom” short film – which got him quite a few revealing details on the project and the Gogol Bordello contribution to the movie’s soundtrack. Check it out HERE in case you missed our report.
After performing with the Queen of Pop on stage at Wembley Stadium last Saturday – another breaking news that was brought first by this website earlier last week – Eugene Hutz talked about his collaboration with Madonna in more interviews that are coming out as part of the reports about Live Earth and anticipate Gogol Bordello’s new album, “Super Taranta!”, released today.
Here’s one of them, coming from Yahoo! News.
“Gogol Bordello star Eugene Hutz will appear in Madonna’s movie directorial debut, he has revealed. The frontman of the gypsy-punks, who played with the pop superstar at Live Earth in London last weekend, has been speaking about the upcoming short film, “Filth & Wisdom“.
Hutz, who previously appeared with Elijah Wood in 2005’s “Everything Is Illuminated“, described Madonna as “fantastic”.
Speaking prior to Saturday’s climate change awareness concert, he spoke about his role in the movie as a character called A.K., who is apparently based on his own personality. Hutz said:
“I think she was fantastic. She’s such a dynamic force. You can always measure a director by how specific he is or she is, and she was very specific. “She had very energetic visions but at the same time there was a lot of room for me to do my own thing”, he told Billboard.
“It was super fun and perfectly respectable, and it ended up being quite a collaborative project”, explained Hutz about the movie, which is expected to debut at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. “Filth & Wisdom” lasts 45-minutes and also stars Richard E. Grant and Stephen Graham. It is unclear if Madonna actually appears on camera.”
