Most successful artist in Austrian charts

Our reader Bernhard from Austria has put together this cool info about how Madonna is the most successful artist in the chart history of his country:

“Dear Tribers!

This week, Austrian Madonna fans celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Like A Virgin, that entered
on February 1st 1985 the Austrian singles charts, peaking # 21. With Like A Virgin Madonna also entered the Top 10 “for the very first time” – peaking # 8.
It’s the first of 21 Austrian Top 10 singles!

Madonna‘s first # 1 came with La Isla Bonita on June 1st 1987 (4 weeks). Her greatest hit ever in
Austria has to be Hung Up at # 1 (6 weeks) in 2005 – 20 years after Madonna`s first appearance
in the charts. Hung up continued a 30 weeks run in a row in Top 75!
All together Madonna charted 45 hit singles between 1985 and 2007, spending 493 weeks in the charts.

Madonna is in fact Austria`s most successful artist in chart history. Congratulations!
