In 1985, it was all about Cyndi Lauper and Madonna, Ho Lian Yi writes on The New Paper.

The media pitted the two – “the rock video era’s first superstars”, as one newspaper put it – against each other and suddenly, it was the feud of the year.

Except it never was one.

The pair, who rocked the ’80s with their bleached hair and outrageous outfits, have never even spoken to each other.

At least that’s what Lauper told The New Paper in a phone interview from her home in Connecticut late Monday.

“Nobody has any time (to feud), we’ve all been so busy!” she said.
