The Female Founder
Madonna was the first woman to be inducted into the UK Hall of Fame on November 11th, 2004 as one of the five founder members. Looking gorgeous in a black coat and with flowing blonde hair she delivered a lovely, gracious speech celebrating the honour by thanking her fans and discussing her love of UK music and culture.
The dedication to the fans was particularly relevant as earlier that day Madonna had held her first ever UK signing – to promote the fourth of her children’s books ‘The Adventures Of Abdi‘ at the Selfridges department store on London’s Oxford Street.
Madonna.com celebrated the event with the following splash page on her official site.
To date, the only other women who feature in the UK Hall of Fame alongside the Queen of Pop are Annie Lennox for her involvement in the Eurythmics, Dusty Springfield and the other queen – Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul.
Today our Fact Of The Day feature is going on vacation and will be back in September 2007. But don’t worry… you will find lotsa more interesting Madonna tidbits in Tribe Facts, another feature that will pop up (not daily) on this newspage during the whole summer. You can help us in the making of our Tribe Facts by submitting your Madonna facts at share@madonnatribe.com.
Thank you.
