About the Music of Filth and Wisdom
During Madonna‘s press conference in Berlin the other day, journalists were very interested on the soundtrack she put together for her film Filth and Wisdom.
Today MadonnaTribe
can report its readers for the first time, detailed info about the songs in the soundtrack, that features a variety of music spanning from
Madonna’s own Erotica song to La Cavalleria Rusticana by composer Mascagni.
Five songs are taken from the 2004 album Gogol Bordello vs. Tamir Muskat. They are Samiao’s Day, Roumania, When I was a little spy, Bassar (Spanish Car Service Special) and Gypsy Part Of Town.
Other songs performed by Gogol Bordello are: Suddently I Miss Carpaty, Wonderlust King, My Strange Uncles From Abroad.
Pharrell Williams, co-producer of Madonna‘s upcoming album also appears in the soundtrack with the song Money Maker, performed by Ludacris featuring Pharrel.
Classical/traditional music is also used in the film: O solitude by Henry Purcell, The Thieving Magpie by Rossini and Cavalleria Rusticana by composer Mascagni.
More folk music comes from the songs Me Darava, Duy Duy, Grastoro, Fantasia, Me nashadjom and Chaso/Kukushka by The Kolpakov Trio, artists coming from Moscow. They are
the first Russian Rroma ensemble to tour North America in the post-socialist period. The style of the group arranges traditional music
and dance.
The soundtrack also features Saints and Dates by Kobi israelite and Britney Spears‘ classic song Baby One More Time. As
already mentioned on this site before Madonna appears with two songs from her 1992 controversial album Erotica. The title track and Secret Garden
are indeed used in Fith and Wisdom.
