”Budva, you are a great crowd!”
Here’s the report from the Sticky & Sweet Tour stop in Montenegro sent in by M-Tribe reader Richard:
“The show, perfect!!! The atmosphere, perfect as well. Organization, lousy!!!
Madonna was surprised by the audience as me. She was in a great mood and I can tell since I was just before the stage. I could see her smiling most of the time. She seemed to be playing with the crowd who wanted her more and more as vice verse. I really did not expect such warmness and interaction. I was at the concert in Nice, France and remember very well that there were just a couple of sentences directed to the audience that was shy (modestly writing).
Budva’s audience was great and Madonna confirmed it herself: “Budva, you are a great crowd!” The Gipsy part of the show was the most appreciated one. The Romanian group sung an extraordinary song “Romale” between the La Isla Bonita and Doli Doli. The audience went crazy as well as Madonna. She was surprised and grateful for the audience reaction. From that moment, everybody was dancing and singing.
But, the closest momentum between Madonna and her fans was at the “Like a prayer” when she was barely heard since the audience were ballistic and sung each word of the song.
Nevertheless, poor organization of the traffic and entrances to the show space on the beach were present. Enormous traffic jam was before and after the show. After the show, my car was stuck with thousands of others in a queue for more than 2 hours. Police was present but nothing much they could accomplish. At the same time, the so-called VIPs (in Montenegro those are usually politicians) were escorted by the police.
Media tell that there were app. 65,000 people present. The show was called as the most important in the music history of Montenegro. Many here tell that actually the show was a question of high state matter since the Government wanted to have the organization of the show at all costs by winning it over Zagreb and Belgrade. Madonna’s show will with no doubt help the country’s tourism image in the world.
I am still having the blue ribbon from the fun pit around my hand. Looking at it almost 24 hours after brings me flashbacks of the concert.
Simply said, it was great.”
