Duesseldorf pictures and review by Matiboy
Here’s a review of the Sticky & Sweet Tour concert in Düsseldorf by M-Tribe reader Felix aka Matiboy who also shared some cool pictures that have been added to our Tour Galleries.
“After waiting several hours in front and inside of the arena the lights finally went out and everyone screamed!!!
I like the intro very, very much! It’s different to the previous ones and the screens look great when they spread into the ladder…everything worked this time and I was like WOOOOOOWWW! Then came C-A-N-D-Y and everyone was crazy!!! Madonna appeared on her throne and started to sing “Candy Shop”. It was such a great experience to see her for the very first time!!!
I loved the first segment, “Vogue” was incredible, I like the new mashup very much and we were sooooo close!
The video interlude for “Die Another Day” is awesome, one of the best of the tour imo! “Into The Groove” was one of my favourite performances of the evening, she was in such a GREAT MOOD, laughing all the time!!
I think “Hearbeat” was the only song which was completely mimed this time, but it was great nevertheless!
“Borderline” sounded great in its rock/ska-incarnation, but as missesP said after the show, a “performance” would have been better than only another guitar song!
So I also enjoyed the second segment very much!!!
The “Rain“-interlude was a bit confusing, I didn’t get it and most of the people around me seemed to have the same problem. The crowd was very silent on that one!
Anyway, when “Devil” started the confusion was forgotten and I enjoyed the AMAZING performance of this song. It was again one of my favourites, the visuals and the atmosphere were great!
The entire third segment was VERY GOOD imo, I loved everything from “Spanish Lesson” to “You Must Love Me” except “Doli Doli” which I only liked! Wink
The crowd was a bit lame at the beginning, but around “La Isla Bonita” everyone got wild and “You Must Love Me” was SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
It’s one of my favourite Madonna-songs and her vocals were amazing, breathtaking!!!
The “Get Stupid“-interlude was a hard contrast to this peaceful atmosphere, but nevertheless it was very good. Madonna looks STUNNING in it!
“4 Minutes” was okay, but I have the feeling it’s just not one of the songs that work live… singing a duet alone is not effective at all, but she sounded great once again!
“Like A Prayer” was GREAT! The mashup was perfect and everyone loved it, it was a real crowd pleaser!
People can say what they want about the “Ray Of Light“-performance, but it works! The crowd went wild!!! The arrangement is slightly different and I really didn’t care about the backdrop, because it looks good!
When she started the reqest-part I was sooo sure she would sing “Express Yourself“, but when she sang the first lines of “Like A Virgin” I was so surprised and impressed! Everyone joined singing almost half of the song!!
“Hung Up” rock version really works live, I loved it very much and also the remix of “Give It 2 Me” was amazing. I didn’t know what to think of it before the concert, but the personal experience is soooo different – in a very good way!
2 hours after the Candy Shop opened, the GAME was OVER and I was sooo impressed, so happy, so Wow wow wow wow… lol…
The show was perfect, Madonna looked lovely and her vocals were very good!!!
