Fans Get Taste Of New Sound
Madonna’s fans rushed to get online yesterday when her new song Four Minutes (To Save The World) was leaked on a website.
The single is not due out before the end of March but a French radio DJ played a radio edit of the long-awaited track, before it was taken down by Warner Music Group.
The Razz managed to hear the catchy tune which has similarities to songs by Britney and Gwen Stefani.
It received mixed reactions from fans who reckon Madonna’s new hip hop sound and use of horns and sirens might drown out her voice. Madge, who is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, recorded the single, from her new Hard Candy album, with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. They both feature in a sexy three-way rap, which centres on Madge’s attempt to save the world before she runs out of time.
Taking the role of superhero in the video, Madonna tells Timbaland and Justin: “Come on, boy / I’ve been waiting for somebody to pick up my stroll / I want somebody to speed it up for me then take it down slow / there’s enough room for both.”
Justin replies: “Girl, I can handle that / you just gotta show me where it’s at / are you ready to go? / are you ready to go” before Madonna sings: “Grab a boy” and Justin says: “Grab a girl“.
The chorus also features the line “Tick tock tick tock tick tock” which has drawn comparisons to Gwen Stefani’s song What You Waiting For? – somewhat ironically since Gwen has been influenced by the Material Girl.
But despite the obvious similarities, we reckon Four Minutes will be a huge hit.
Madonna said: “I am very anxious and nervous and hopeful people will like it.”
It will be a big year for her with the release of feature film Filth And Wisdom and documentary I Am Because We Are, telling the story of her adoption of son David Banda from Malawi.
For Mother’s Day yesterday, she sent out the perfect message, adding: “I would love to adopt more.”
