Madonna in Chicago review by Michael
Madonna Tribe reader Michael from Minneapolis, Minnesota attended Madonna’s first of two concerts at Chicago’s United Center.
“To sum things up I can say this concert truly was a love fest celebration between Madonna and her fans” – Michael writes.
Here’s what he has to say:
“There seems to be an inordinate amount of whining with this tour coming from fans that paid significantly more money for the best seats. This may have come from the Hot Ticket package deal or a marked up seat in a prime location on the main floor.
Stadiums suffered the worst for what seemed to be a guaranteed better concert experience. After all, you pay far more than face value, you should therefore get the best possible deal for your money. Well, I hope you fans will consider just what you’ve gotten yourself into and next time just pay face value. It’s in the end, the better of the deal. Also, consider attending an arena size venue over a stadium. Her shows have always been geared for an arena type performing venue.
I enjoyed the opening Chicago performance immensely because I had a decent seat for an acceptable price. I was able to view the visuals as they were meant to be seen and still see Madonna well enough because she performed at the base of the ramp so frequently. If fans want to possibly get to slap hands with Madonna and be in the front row, well maybe you have to pay $1,500 to get that chance, but if you pay the medium price ticket, you still get the chance to see an incredible show and most importantly not feel cheated.
My complaint with dance music type concerts is that the music most of the time gets muddled in reverb and heavy bass distortion. The sound engineers still have not been able to fix this problem. Yes, this was a major problem at the United Center. Maybe NY’s Madison Square Garden solves this problem. I for one know that our Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota handles this problem pretty well. I saw a Gwen Stefani concert that sound wise proved to be excellent. I’ve yet to hear sound from a dance music type concert at United Center pull off respectably.
Madonna’s concert still was exceptional because I really saw her make a concerted effort to reach out to the fans for this performance. She loves Chicago and Chi-Town clearly loves her!”
Thanks to Michael from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
