Madonna in Montreal pictures and review by Benefit
“I just have to say first of all that this show, I had no idea what was gonna be in it” – says M-Tribe Community member Benefit, who avoided all spoilers since the begining and only knew Britney Spears was recording a video for the show (and he guessed that “Me against the music” was in the set list), read something about “Vogue”, and accidentally saw some footage on television on Thursday morning, when he switched the TV on and Madonna was there in the news singing “Beat Goes On.”
Now that he has seen the entire show this is what he has to say…
Madonna:
Wow!!! I was fucking amased and finaly surprised. The last 2 tours I got spoiled because everywhere you could see so easily about the tour and it gave away the punch. But i am so proud of myself for doing it untill the end. It was so worth it. Madonna was simply amasing. She gave 200% of herself again. I got to see the set list for the first time while opening the Tour Book. That was like a big Happy time.
The Set/Stage/Screens:
I actually liked it and I had a great view. I know, it was a deja-vue from Confessions and Re-Invention (The cat walk and the moving screens). But i actually loved it. She didn’t also emphasis on the screens as much as before.
I loved the opening, just her on a chair like that, I actually loved it. Like it wasn’t as big like confessions or Re-invetion… but just the fact that she is there… sitting like nothing bothers her… it said a lot : “Yo homies, I’m the queen”.
The Set list:
I was very happy. And yet a bit disapointed. I couldn’t ask for more, believe me. I totaly loved it. But for a woman who has a repertoire of 25 years, For some of her oldies, she could of gone further. I was happy to hear Vogue, into the groove, la isla bonita and ray of light, but there are so much songs she hasn’t sung in almost 15 years. Those where too fresh to hear again to me. But anywho…
Candy Shop: Totaly a simple openng but it was the complet them of the show. It was the songs for the opening. Welcome to me candy shop
Beat Goes On: Really a fun song to dance to in the arena. The vibe. Completly wild.
Human Nature: Soooo fucking happy to have heard that one. She only did it in 2001 and that songs was totaly for this Tour. That was a really high points for me. And I finally saw that Britney was in it for that video. So no Me Against the music. Who cares… HN fucking rocks.
Vogue: Well I loved that song. She did great and a new Vogue to learn hahahaha. The choregraphy was more simple this time but the mashup of Vogue and 4 Minutes… Totally awsome. I loved it
Die Another Day: I was so suprised to see this in the Tour cause it’s not even mnetion in the Set list. I actually loved that interlude. Usually during interlude she barely is in the video except for Bedtime Story in 2004 if I’m correct. And the footage were Hot. I love that she didn’t used that as the opening. The opening was simple and emphasis on her more than the screen.
Into the Groove: Ok… that was totaly fun to watch. I enjoyed the roped dancing actually. 🙂
Heartbeat: The songs was so perfect. I liked the songs but live, It was really great.
Borderline: WAY so cool. I loved the rock mic for it. I jamed all the way hahaha I even hit the girl next to me. Oops!
She’s not Me : My favorite. Hahahah I simply loved it. And with the wannabes. This was a totaly breath taking one. She even did her choregraphy from “Let it will be” on stage to that one. lol
Music : “Last night a dj saved my life” Yeah, this is also fun song. And revamped once again. I like that song more and more because of how she use it in her shows. But it will never be Holiday tho.
Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You : That was lovely. I loved the water work around her on the circle screen. This one was really powerfull on stage. I like it even more now.
Spanish Lesson : I never really liked that songs but live… I guess with the choregraphy it gave it a punch. But at the end the beat changed and I like it the way it went.
Miles Away: I do like the songs but not in my top favorites. So that was a smooth and relaxing part. That’s also when guards told me and my friends to follow them because we had cameras… but never said nothing to all the others around us. I,ll tell you more later on.
La Isla Bonita: Completly the “Live Earth” one. Seriously, This is one of the songs that… you know it already had been done on the last tour so I didn’t enjoyed it as much. She could of chose an oldie we hadn’t heard in years.
You Must Love Me: I love when she chose a song from Evita. I simply loved it. It was the calm one o the night.
4 Minutes: Haha With the Hockey pad that was hilarious. I groove all the way to that one
Like a Prayer: Different. I saw tho a bit of Blond Ambition in that performance. But I love the song. Even tho she did it in 2004 in Re-Invention and 2005 at Live Aid so calmly, this one was extra cherry on a sundea. I loved it and that sons shoudl always be so energetic.
Ray of Light: Ok I did dance to it cause you can’t just stand still … but this was completly 2006. The same thing and the same ending with the hands lifting slowly into the air. I would of love to see Nothing Really Matters instead.
Request Song: 3 Guys had big board writtien “Hollywood”, “Who’s that girl” and “Secret” but a girl rushed on to Madonna and ask for “Sorry” … C”mon make her sing another songs we really want to hear like “Open Your Heart”, “Everybody”. My choice would of been “Causing a Commotion” cause it would of fit so well.
Hung Up : Wo… I read about that rock version but this was so High. I loved it with arock edge.
Give it 2 Me: I couldn’t stop dancing to it. And the remix, So totaly cool!
The Segments:
The Pimp:
Fun. That was Madonna completly… being her.
The 80’s Retro:
THat is by far my favorite Segment in a really long time. That really was the best one. I otaly loved the energy, the grip, the moves. Way a go there
The Religious:
Casual and simple. It was fit for the entier segment
The Combat/Energy Zone:
Simple fun to watch. And you couldn’t stop dancing
The Costumes :
They were simply but they actually fir the entier show. I saw a few pictures because some tribers had them in their signature or avatar. So I didn’t want to say nothing untill the show. But once I saw it, they weren’t that bad. Strechy, and confortable for that kind of exercise.
So my experience in all: loved it. I am happy that I was able to go to this on also.
