I was 19 years old the 24 july 1990 when I first went to a Madonna concert, the Blond Ambition tour Rotterdam, Holland.
Two years before, my parents promised me that I was allowed to go to the Who’s that girl tour in Rotterdam if I would pass for my exam on highschool. I passed, but wasn’t allowed to go to see Madonna….My father called her actually “that hore/bitch”.
When I heard about Blond Ambition, I went to get myself a ticket and didn’t tell anybody. The day before the concert I bought a trainticket to Rotterdam, and then told my parents that i would go see Madonna. First they were shocked, then they agreed. So the next day I travelled all alone for 3 hours to go to Madonna!!! I was so nervous, I couldn’t eat or drink (was also afraid to have to go to the toilet during the concert)
When the gates opened, first I bought the tourbook, then ran to the field. I wasn’t near the stage, but near enough to see Madonna clearly. I was so impressed by the show, and then promised myself not to miss any Madonna concert again…..
After the show I had to hurry to catch my train, otherwhile I wouldn’t get home. Sitting in the train looking in my tourbook I was so excited I saw Madonna, I told everybody who was sitting in the train about how I got there and how I loved Madonna etc. When I arrived on the trainstation at home that night, my brother had to pick me up and in his car was my father….
I thought he would get very angry, but instead he said he saw Madonna on the tv news and wanted to know everything and see the tourbook. That was the day Madonna was allowed in my life, and she stil is!!!!!
Actually, I missed the Girlie Show, all the others I saw, and I’m looking forward to see her on tour again.
Dedicated to my parents.
Best regards,
Marco Thomassen
My most wonderful moment i would say it was at the re-invention tour. It was the very first time i saw Madonna sing or perform live. i got there early with my cousin we went to buy all kinds of collectibles. when we finally went to our seats my cousin had gone outside. The show was about to start I was so excited felling chills up and down my back when all the sudden the lights went off it was time; the people were screaming like crazy. The seat that I had I could see part of the back stage… so when Madonna was walking trough to get to the stage one of the assistants pointed the flashlight at her oh my god I actually saw her before entering the stage, she was so beautiful wearing the golden corset she look like a golden angel i started crying of excitement and could not control myself , when the song the beast within started and the big screens with the amazing footage went on i was in a dream I could not believe it she took me to the highest state of mind and i was loving it. When she finally went on stage looking at her oh my god her voice she was so perfect it was the most precious moment to me to finally get to see Madonna sing live and to see her perform one of my favorites songs Vogue. I totally forgot about my cousin he was able to get better seats so we moved, the closer I was, I was getting in a trance I was in shock after the song Vogue there was a part of frozen I can’t remember , but after I recover from the first part, all I can say is that Mother and Father was I would say one of the most touching songs for me, because I some how connect with that song, my father died when I was about the same age as her and did not had my mother with me cause she had to work. So it was a very special moment between Madonna and me not to mention her voice was crystal clear amazing and the religious images gave an unique meaning to the song. I could go on and on but would never end wether I win or loose and just want to tell you that Madonna has always been part of my life and in every album she’s done there is always a song that she is singing to me. we have a connection i could not change for anything . Thank you MadonnaTribe for your job you guys are doing great, and thank you Madonna for everything you’ve done.
Than you

My fondest Madonna tour memory occurred on June 16, 2006, the opening night of the spectacular Confessions Tour in New York City…
I was there with three of my friends, and our tickets were in the last row of the furthest section from the stage. As usual, she’d turned off the air conditioning (so we were burning up – pun intended – in what turned out to be the worst seats in the house). To add insult to injury, out view was partially blocked by the rafters at Madison Square Garden.
About halfway through ‘Jump’ I felt someone — the usher — tap on my shoulder. He told us that we were “being moved to better seats.” He asked us for our original tickets and proceeded to replace them with four new tickets and then shuffled us down a back staircase. I’ll never forget the muffled sounds of ‘Confessions’ (the ‘Live To Tell’ intro) and the rumbling of the crowd mixed with Madonna’s voice echoing in the stairwell as we struggled to find our way to the mysterious new seats.
Cut to 5 minutes later…
We settled into our new seats just as the lights came up and the opening chords of ‘Forbidden Love’ started to play. Heaven. These were the best seats I’d ever imagined (one section off the floor)…and we arrived just as one of my all-time favorite Madonna performances took flight.
Thank you Madonna. (And thank you for this cool contest.)
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock…

Who’s that Girl World Tour – August 25th 1987
After weeks of speculation it was finally announced that Madonna would
visti the Netherlands with her highly anticipated Who’s that Girl World
Tour to perform in the great Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam.. Due to
difficulties that happened during Ticket sales for U2 the organisers
decided that information on the ticketsale would be given in the newspapers
the day itself. So one morning when I was ready to go to school my heart
stopped beating when I saw the advertisement that tickets went on sale that
morning! My decision was made very quickly and I decided to skip school,
with the permission of my beloved mum ofcourse, and go after tickets for
the concert of the year.
Although it was very busy at the ticket office I succeeded in buying 3
seating tickets – Maastribune – for the concert.at the 25th of August. The
tickets looked great. They had a famous photograph of Herb Ritts on it!
From that day on I was counting the days till August 25 by looking at the
tickets eveyday because I was afraid they would get lost!
August 25 1987
Finally the day of the concert had arrived. Television, radio and
newspapers where full of Madonna and the single Who’s that Girl was the
number 1 song in the country. The only thing that wasn’t with Madonna that
day was the weather. It was raining now and then, wind was blowing and it
was pretty cold! But even the Dutch weather couldn’t stop us from going to
see Madonna live in concert for the very first time of our lives!
When we arrived at the stadium there was allready a huge crowd in and
around the stadium. The streets and the stadium were packed with the famous
Madonna wannabees and a lot of girls and some boys were dressed very
Madonna-esque. The atmosphere was electric and the air was filled with
anxiety.
After the support acts there was a short break and then around nine o clock
the lights went out and the Intro of Open your Heart started playing,
causing an enormous cheer in the packed stadium and goosebumps all over my
body. In front us 2 little girls started crying because they saw their Idol
live for the very first time. My sister and I were looking at eachother
with tears in our eyes and hugged eachother. When I think of that moment
and I watch the DVD I still get very emotional!
After all these emotions we had the time of our lives seeing and
experiencing the Madonna extravaganza for the very first time of our lives
and even though we had seating tickets we didn’t sat down for one minute.
Madonna was in great shape. Singing and dancing het butt off and
interacting with her adoring audience, shouting Amsterdam, Rotterdam,
wherever the F*CK I am. We didn’t feel the cold because Madonna’s voice and
warmth kept us warm like a blanket on a cold December night.
The highlight of the show came when Madonna performed Who’s that Girl alone
on the gigantic stage with 50.000 crazy dutchmen as her backup vocals.
But then after more than two hours the show came to an end and we were left
speechless and overwhelmed with emotions. We realised that we had seen
something spectacular and magnificent.
We’ve seen Madonna performing quite a few times now but nothing can beat
the feeling we had on that rather cold day in August in Rotterdam.
