Madonna pulls film from Glastonbury
Madonna has scrapped plans to screen her docu “I Am Because We Are,” about the plight of Malawian children, at the Glastonbury rock festival in Blighty, according to local press reports.
“Madonna hoped the film could be shown on the Saturday and there was talk of a question and answer session,” a source told the Daily Mail newspaper. “But poor ticket sales for the festival put her off. After talks with organizers it was decided the festival was not the right venue to showcase the film.”
Last year, Glastonbury sold out in about two hours and attracted 177,500 people. This year’s festival, which runs June 27-29, still hasn’t sold out nine weeks after tickets went on sale, and organizers have resorted to selling 10,000 tickets through retail chain HMV.
