More on Traverse City Film Festival
MyNorth.com interviewed people buying tickets to Madonna‘s documentary, I Am Because We Are on Saturday, June 7 at the Traverse City State Theatre in Traverse City, Michigan. Many had been waiting in line overnight, some for days.
The documentary, written, produced and narrated by Madonna is part of the fourth annual Traverse City Film Festival and will be shown on August 2, at 8:00 p.m. at the State Theatre. Madonna will introduce the film about the one million orphans in Malawi who’ve lost their parents to AIDS. All the ticket money, $25 per ticket, will go to the Raising Malawi Foundation, a project of Madonna’s that helps that country and its orphans. Half the tickets were sold on Saturday, the other half are available to Friends of the Traverse City Film Festival.
The other half of the tickets will be sold by lottery to those who belong to the Friends of the Traverse City Film Festival. Anyone can join the Friends, and those interested in I Am Because We Are tickets must do so by Thursday, June 12 in order to qualify for the lottery drawing. People can become Friends of the Traverse City Film Festival online or in person at the State Theatre box office. For more information on buying tickets to the Traverse City Film Fest, visit TraverseCityFilmFest.org.
