New Madonna Interview to be published tomorrow on Io Donna
Last February MadonnaTribe exclusively reported that Io Donna, weekly magazine of “Il Corriere Della Sera” newspaper would have been the magazine chosen to officially promote Hard Candy in Italy with possibly an exclusive interview.
Madonna is on the cover of Io Donna coming out tomorrow in every Italian newsstand, presenting an exclusive interview by Beppe Severgnini in which the Queen Of Pop discusses a variery of topics, from her new album to the Swept Away flop.
Selections:
Io Donna: I listened to the new album and I like the song Shes Not Me.
Madonna: Why?
Io Donna: Because it’s very “Madonna”
Madonna: I prefer Candy Shop, Miles Away and Devil Wouldnt Recognize You. But yeah, I like Shes Not Me as well
Io Donna: I can’t believe you don’t read anything of what’s published about you
Madonna: Not a single news, not a single review. I have no idea of what’s being said and written
Io Donna: Not even biographies
Madonna: Never
Io Donna: I had to read one to prepare myself for the interview. Do you want to see the cover?
Madonna: No, it’s useless, nothing of what’s written in there can be true.If you want to know about me you have to come to me and talk to me
Io Donna: It’s not the easiest thing in the world to do
Madonna: That’s also true!
Io Donna: I was reading on Usa Today that everyone has a story to tell, memories to sell. As none of the biographies about you are reliable why don’t you write one yourself?
Madonna: My films and my documentaries are autobiographical. Each record is party autobiographical. I’m not interested nor have the intention to sit down and write about myself.
Io Donna: A mistake you wouldn’t repeat?
Madonna: You tell me one
Io Donna: Swept Away?
Madonna: (harsh tone) That film, Swept Away, taught me a lot.
Io Donna: …for example not to trust us Italians?
Madonna (Laughing loud) Come on, who shouldn’t have I trusted? Adriano Giannini? He was fantastic, I like him a lot. No, it wasn’t a great joke!
Io Donna: But you laughed
Madonna: (serious) Ok
Io Donna: Are you aware of what’s happening in Italy?
Madonna: You mean politics?
Io Donna: One is called Silvio just like your father
Madonna: surname?
Io Donna: Berlusconi
Madonna: Yes I read about him. And my Italian friends talk about him.
Io Donna: Let me read something from a biography
Liz Rosenberg: Who’s the author?
Io Donna: Randy Taraborrelli
Liz Rosenberg: Put it away. It’s not worth anything
Io Donna: Well you’re quoted saying “Just watch out. When I hit the big 5-0, if you think I was a bitch before, well… you just wait!” Now you would say that was something made up?
Madonna: Exactly
