Racy Madonna is new face for Marc Jacobs at Vuitton
Madonna in provocative pose is to embody the latest collection designed by US stylist Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, the French luxury house said Thursday.
Dressed in little but mesh stockings and head-spinningly high stilettos in the first pictures released, the diva of pop represents the designer’s “vision of the quintessential Parisienne” embodied in his 2009 spring-summer ready-to-wear collection for Louis Vuitton unveiled in October.
“I wanted the campaign to be very bold, very sensual and very atmospheric,” Jacobs was quoted as saying in a statement.
“To carry this off we needed the ultimate performer – and for me, that is Madonna.”
Photographed in a smoky Paris 1940s-style bar touting the latest Vuitton “it” bags, the just-divorced 50-year-old is shown striking provocative poses in very very short skirts and ethnic-inspired footwear and jewels.
The advertising campaign is to launch next February worldwide.
Louis Vuitton has been synonymous with travel goods for over 150 years and is part of the LVMH empire, the planet’s leading luxury conglomerate.
Since 1997, when Jacobs arrived, it has extended to women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, watches, and jewellery.
