The Portuguese Promoter Speaks
The Portuguese promoter Álvaro Covões from EverythingIsNew gave an interview to Destak in which he explains how he brought Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour in Lisbon. Our Portuguese Team Member Edgar has been so nice to translate the relevant parts of this interview exclusively for MadonnaTribe readers.
Q: Was it difficult to bring Madonna in Portugal on September 14?
A: It’s always good to get a Madonna
show, because every city and nation wants her. I succeded to get a show in Lisbon, so it feels like winning a trophy.
Q: Why did you choose
Parque da Bela Vista?
A: You can have a lot of people in there and it’s situated in the city centre, there’s easy access to the Subway. There’s no other place like that in Lisbon to handle an event with 75 thousand people or more, not even stadiums, so it is a wonderful place.
Destak asked Everything is New if there’s a chance an additional 15 thousand tickets will be offered for sale as the Bela Vista Park is able to contain 90 thousand spectators. But
the promoter commented: “As of now all available places are sold out and
there is no indication new tickets will be put for sale”. A source from “Everything Is New” also said it is too early to speak about a second date being added to Lisbon.
