Time To Celebrate
Madonna‘s debut album was released twenty-five years ago today, on July 27, 1983 by Sire Records.
“Madonna” was then re-released for the European markets in 1985 with an alternate cover. That was “Madonna – The First Album” as European fans used to know it until Waner Bros. Records released a remastered version of the CD with the original artwork (and two bonus remix tracks) in 2001.
“Madonna” was certified Gold by the RIIA on May 31, 1984. The album was certified 5x platinum on Oct 3, 2000, and is believed to have sold at least 10 million copies worldwide.
