On related news Madonna landed in Israel this morning ahead of her two concerts in Hayarkon Park that will wrap up the 2009 tour on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Here is what ynetnews.com says about Madonna’s first hours in the country:
• Queen of Pop lands in Israel
Madonna’s visit to the Holy Land is underway. Just after 2 am Sunday, the American performer’s private plane landed at Ben-Gurion Airport, depositing Madonna and her children on the tarmac. Within just minutes, the highly-secured entourage of four cars left for her hotel in Tel Aviv, where fans and media awaited.
In a fantastic media-avoiding display, the cars veered off in different directions in order to throw the media off the pop star’s trail. Madonna’s car and one other identical one arrived at the hotel, where the star was whisked into the building directly from the parking lot.
Madonna is in Israel for two concerts to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday that will close out her Sticky and Sweet tour.
During her visit, the singer and he children plan on visiting the graves of righteous rabbis in Safed. They also will visit the Jerusalem’s Old City and the Western Wall. The sightseeing will apparently take place over the course of Sunday and Monday.
Friends and celebrities close to Madonna are reported to visit Israel in the coming days to see the last shows on her tour. Madonna reportedly invited about 100 personal guests to stay with her at the beachside hotel and to visit Jerusalem with her.
Preparations for her two concerts continue full force ahead at Yarkon Park. Alongside a tent complex erected for her comfort, the international and Israel team are busy constructing the stage. Work on the set was not done on Saturday at the request of the pop diva so as to avoid desecration of the Sabbath.
