More Fan’s favourite memorabilia – Part Four
MadonnaTribers have started to send in photos and stories about their most favourite Madonna memorabilia in their collections. Here are 3 more stories.
• Hi Madonnatribe!!
Of course, like almost everyone else who reads Madonnatribe I’ve been a mega Madonna fan since I was very young. In my teen years, I collected rare ‘M’ records and limited edition picture discs. I was that kid in his bedroom dancing around to “Open Your Heart” and “White Heat”!! Like so many other mega fans, I’ve seen every Madonna concert (except the Virgin Tour), know every word she utters in Truth or Dare (‘do something else, do my eyebrows’!!!) and check the online sites religiously (specifically Mtribe) to see if anything new is going on in the world of Madonna.
Unlike many others, I’ve also had the chance to go backstage at one of her tours, experienced Niki Harris sing to me in a hotel room (I nearly died), was the first to twitter with ‘M’ on Guy Oseary’s Twitter page and was one of the very few who were at the Tower Records Performance in NYC for American Life circa 2003. For hours we lined up to see Madonna sing acoustic versions of Hollywood, American life and Like A Virgin!! Afterwards, we were supposed to meet and greet with Madonna where she would have signed any memorabilia you brought. It was a long day and much to everyone’s dismay, M had to cancel half way through the autograph session and the day ended in tears and temper tantrums!!
A few weeks later, I was told to submit my wristband from the Tower Records appearance and Madonna would send me a special gift. I sent it in to Maverick Records and 4 months later, I received this incredible package in the mail. I opened the package and it was the Xtatic Process limited edition 260 page book signed by Madonna herself. I nearly fell over. The Queen of Pop knew something about Customer Service and she sure delivered on it. This to me, is my most special piece of memorabilia because it demonstrates Madonna’s appreciation for her fans. As a business person myself, I thought the gesture of following up with those she had to cancel on exhibited class and the business sense that keeps her the reigning Queen of Pop!!!

• Thank you for an amazing site. I am a true fan, and check it everyday as soon as I wake up.
My favorite piece of Madonna Memorabilia is tied between my discolite boom box which I bid for and won on ebay. You wont believe how much I payed, but as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I feel in love with it as soon I saw the Hung up video. I t has been humped and ridden numerous amounts of times by myself. If there was a fire, this would be the first thing that I would go for, believe me.
My other favorite Madonna Memorabilia has to be my tattoo of The Mr. Brainwash Celebration Madonna/Marilyn mash up. I saw the large image about a year before the greatest hits came out, and fell in love. I choose the original mash up of Madonna/Marilyn instead of the two Madonna photos, because it represents our generation’s culture, and pays a nod to the one before.
I have been told Madonna herself has seen a picture that a fellow fashion design took, and she approves.
Thank you for letting me share my story.
Best wishes
Frank DiMaria from NYC
• Dear Madonnatribe,
I have so many things that i admire, that i love, that i adore (he he) but what comes to mind is my icon magazines, they just take me back to the excitment of knowing they would come in the post every 3 months and praying that the postman wouldnt have damaged them when placing them in the post box. It was all before internet and the magazine was so exciting reading Madonna letter and looking at the pics and just knowing what our queen was doing, my most favourite icon is magazine 3 volume one and that because its signed by Madonna herself and my boyfriend bought it for my birthday, it was bought from a guy that worked for Icon in the early days and lucky me it now mine, I dont have all of them but the ones I own I cherish…
