Madonna lends classic costumes to Gaultier exhibit
Thanks to his determination Thierry- Maxime Loriot convinced Madonna to lend him her precious bustiers to be shown at the exhibit devoted to Jean Paul Gaultier. Madonna never lended them to anyone else before and were never exposed.
Thierry-Maxime Loriot, is the young manager of the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal (MBAM) who has been chosen to organize the exhibit called
La Planète mode de Jean Paul Gaultier.
Mr Loriot had a meeting with Madonna and her children in New York to try to convince her to lend her collection of bustiers for the exhibit.
It was unreal meeting according to Loriot:
“I thought she was inviting me in her offices but she invited me in her home, I was there, in her living room with her family,” he said.
Madonna accepted to collaborate to the exhibit in Montreal due to her longtime friendship with Gaultier but she still has plans to organize her own exhibition of her costumes.
Loriot was invited to the Madonna costume archive in Los Angeles and was given the liberty to choose whatever he wanted for the exhibition. He chose four tour costumes, among them the pink corset used for the Blond Ambition Express Yourself number. There’s only one left. And the golden corset used during Like A Virgin also from Blond Ambition
He also chose the Equestrian costume used in the opening of the Confessions Tour (shown below).
Madonna’s corsets have been first sent to Paris where they were meticulously restored at the Jean Paul Gaultier atelier and after that, they were sent to Montreal where they are ready to be displayed.
La Planète mode de Jean Paul Gaultier will start on June 17 2011 and ending on October 2nd 2011. Madonna and other stars like Kylie Minogue, Marion Cotillard et Lady Gaga are invited to the premiere.
