A League of Their Own Blu-ray out October 16th
In October, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring A League of Their Own to Blu-ray, blu-ray.com reports.
Inspired by a true story, this sports comedy looks at the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League of 1943, which gave a group of spirited women a chance to shine while male baseball players were overseas fighting in World War II.
The film focuses on the Rockford Peaches team which springs from the League, and on the interplay between the Peaches’ boozy, washed-up coach Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) and Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), a small-town dairy farmer whose terrific performances at bat put the team in the national consciousness even as they drive a wedge between Dottie and her less talented sister Kit.
Directed by Penny Marshall, the film’s sterling ensemble cast includes Rosie O’Donnell, Jon Lovitz, David Strathairn, Bill Pullman, Garry Marshall, and Madonna.
Sony’s Blu-ray presents the film in its 2.39:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following supplements:
• Commentary with Penny Marshall, Lori Petty, Megan Cavanagh, and Tracy Reiner
• Deleted scenes with video introductions by Penny Marshall
• Nine Memorable Innings Pre-Game feature
• “This Used to Be My Playground” music video
A League of Their Own streets on October 16th.
